Cumbria Family Support believe that with the right support early on, families can overcome challenges, feel more secure at home, and build the future they want for their children.
Our core work focuses on giving early years children the best start in life.
Early Support, Real Change and Lasting Impact
Over the past 12 months we have received 66 new referrals and have supported a total of 133 families.
We work directly with families to improve outcomes in the following four areas:
Parenting (parent’s confidence and children’s confidence in how they are parented)
Children’s Wellbeing (health, meeting developmental milestones, managing emotions, confidence and self-esteem)
Wider Family Issues (Home conditions and safety, finances, children’s education, other)
Relationships and Community Connection (family relationships, support networks, reducing isolation)

Further information on our outcomes for families including a breakdown of outcomes in the areas we work can be found here.

What our volunteers say…..
“I enjoy supporting the family in so many ways. Making a positive difference to lives. Seeing the change in behaviour and development of a young life that hopefully embeds to long terms benefits. I enjoy being a good listener and advising where I can. Hearing laughter and enjoyment I help bring as a positive influencer”.
“As a volunteer I have a range of roles, I am mentor, a guide, a friend, a listener, and I know I’m really making a difference”.
“You can really help a family build resilience and have opportunities to thrive, not just make it through the day”.
“It’s lovely to see a family grow together and progress and move on with their lives”.
